KOTA BHARU: A 36-year-old woman has been remanded for seven days from today for allegedly abusing her son in March.
Kota Bharu police chief Rosdi Daud said she was arrested in Kok Lanas here yesterday, six months after a police report was lodged by her ex-husband.
He said the father of the eight-year-old victim had been contacted by the ex-wife’s boyfriend, who told him that his son had been abused by his mother.
“The man had lived with his wife along with two of their children in Tampin, Negeri Sembilan, but after they divorced in 2020, the woman and their son lived in Kota Bharu, while their daughter lived with the father.
“The victim has been taken to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital and has received outpatient treatment. He will be handed over to the social welfare department for further action,” he said in a statement today.
Rosdi said the case would be investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act. - FMT
