PETALING JAYA: DAP will run the country if Pakatan Harapan (PH) wins the 15th general election (GE15), says MIC deputy president M Saravanan.
Speaking to reporters after launching the Tapah Barisan Nasional (BN) election machinery, the Tapah MP said DAP would have the most seats if PH wins the election and forms the federal government.
“Between DAP, PKR, Amanah and Muda, who do you think will have more seats?
“DAP will have the most seats, and it will decide how the country is run,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.
“Anwar (PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim) cannot become prime minister without the support of DAP.
“In the end, DAP will be in control even if Anwar becomes the prime minister. If BN wins, the prime minister will decide everything,” added the human resources minister.
Saravanan was asked whether BN was confident about retaining the Tapah parliamentary seat in GE15 if it had to face off against DAP.
DAP has 42 seats in the 222-member Dewan Rakyat, the most of any party. Within PH, besides DAP, PKR has 36, Amanah has 11 and Upko has one.
GE15 must be held no later than mid-September 2023, that is, within 60 days after the current Parliament’s term automatically dissolves on July 16 next year. - FMT
