PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan reminded his party that their "real" political enemies are Pakatan Harapan and its "big tent" allies, not BN.
Takiyuddin (above), in a statement today, said that PAS believed that a coalition that brings together the ummah is the most effective formula to foster national unity.
He also claimed that it was a strategy that most voters would accept with regard to forming a government that cares for the rakyat.
"PAS is optimistic that only political cooperation among the main Malay-Muslim parties can deter us from facing multi-cornered fights in the 15th general election," he said.
Further, Takiyuddin urged the parties that currently form the federal government to continue working together for GE15, in order to form a stable government.
Earlier this month, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man was quoted as saying that the party has decided to face the upcoming polls as part of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
However, several PAS leaders, including its president Abdul Hadi Awang, have repeatedly claimed they are still in talks with Umno.
Umno leaders have repeatedly denied Hadi’s claims.
Earlier this year, Selangor Umno mooted the idea of collaborating with the state PAS chapter but it failed to materialise.
Umno leaders have set out the condition that any cooperation with PAS must be preceded by the Islamist party breaking ties with Bersatu. - Mkini
