Pahang state legislative assembly deputy speaker Lee Chin Chen has confirmed he was issued a fine for a traffic offence after a picture of the offence went viral on social media last Sunday.
Lee (above), who is also the Bilut assemblyperson said he gave his statement to the Bentong District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department today regarding the incident.
“I have given my cooperation and a summon was issued. Like all Malaysians, I will pay the summon soon,” he said in a statement today.
He also expressed his appreciation to the police for their transparency in carrying out their duties.
Bentong district police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar in a statement also informed that a summon was issued under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act (RTD) 1987.
Last Sunday, a photograph of Lee’s vehicle was uploaded on a Facebook account where its owner questioned if a people’s representative can break the law while ordinary citizens are subject to enforcement action.
The picture shows Lee’s car exiting the junction of Golden Court, Jalan Tras Bentong to the main road which actually has a “No Entry” sign.
