KUALA SELANGOR: Sacked Selangor Umno leader Noh Omar says that he will become an “independent speaker” and is willing to speak at Perikatan Nasional events if he is invited.
However, he said currently he doesn’t have plans to join another party.
“I’m taking a break now but I can confirm that I will become an independent speaker. If Bersatu invites me, I will come. If PAS invites me I will also come. I will speak the truth,” he said.
Asked if PN leaders approached him to join the coalition, Noh only said he was “a friend to everyone” and had been in discussions with PAS before the elections to ensure Umno and PAS did not contest against each other.
Noh was here to attend a solidarity event attended by about 200 supporters and veteran members of the Tanjong Karang Umno division, where he was a former division chief. He was also MP for the constituency for six terms.
At the event, he accused Habibah Yusof, the BN candidate for the seat in the 2022 general election, of having filed a report against him to the party leadership. Noh urged division members to kick out the “traitor” from the constituency.
“If you are defeated, just accept the defeat, why lodge a report? You are not the only one who lost (in the election), but (the whole of Umno) lost in Selangor,” he said.
In the 2022 election, Habibah was narrowly defeated by Zulkafperi Hanapi of PAS.
FMT has contacted Habibah’s aide to get her comment. - FMT
