AT LAST, MIC speaks up against "BULLY TEACHERS" in toilet-canteen schools

AT LAST, MIC speaks up against "BULLY TEACHERS" in toilet-canteen schools
An MIC activist wants disciplinary action taken against the SK Seri Pristana headmaster and teachers who allegedly abused the daughter of whistleblower Guneswari Kelly.
MIC's Strategic Director Vell Paari said headmaster Mohamad Nasir Mohd Noor should be held accountable for the Guneswari’s decision to take her daughter out of the school.
“This is very shameful. The school should have moved on and not victimised the girl,” he said today, commenting on Guneswari’s decision to send her child to a vernacular school in Subang.
Guneswari's daughter was taunted after her mother exposed on Facebook how non-Muslim pupils at the SK Seri Pristana had been made to have their recess in a shower room.
Vell Paari, who is helping Guneswari to enrol her daughter in the Subang school, said he will ensure that the "bully teachers" involved are dealt with lawfully.
He had earlier promised protection to Guneswari after she had received threats.
Vell Paari said Guneswari’s move was an indictment of the national schools system.
“Some have argued as to why there is a need to have vernacular stream schools in the country. Well at least now, we can see its importance as it will be providing a safe and normal learning environment for an innocent child," he told The Malaysian Insider.
Vell Paari also took a swing at the former vice-chairman of MIC Strategic Committee Datuk R. Ramanan, the newly appointed special officer to Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, for being an apologist.
Ramanan had expressed his “regret” in Umno-controlled Utusan Malaysia recently that Nasir has been called an irresponsible headmaster as what he had done was fair – to have the students have their meals at the shower room rather than beside the drain.
Vell Paari said this is how "certain quarters" settled race-related issues, by pitting members of the same community against each other.
"In this case, 'certain quarters' (referring to some non-governmental organisations and groups which had voiced support for Nasir) got someone from MIC to respond, to give the impression nothing controversial had happened, because MIC represents the Indian community and the person who has been affected in this issue is Guneswari.
“However, they failed to understand that this is wrong as what she did was in the best interest of all the children and (had) nothing to do with race."
He said, however, such a move will not work as MIC has to first take care of the welfare of the community it represents.
"If Ramanan wants to contest the coming party polls for any positions, he must learn his job involves doing many other things apart from nodding to anything his boss says. Has he ever spoken to Guneswari and heard her side of the story?" Vell Paari said.
