Police investigation reveal that the blast was caused by a home-made explosive device placed under the car.
GEORGE TOWN: Two women, including a foreigner, were injured when an explosive went off under a parked car here today.
The incident happened in the notorious red light area of Love Lane near Chulia Street at 2.30pm.
The women, who were walking near the parked car, are receiving treatment at Penang Hospital. They are said to be recovering well.
Police investigation revealed that the blast was caused by a home-made explosive device placed under the car.
The car owner apparently had gone to take his lunch just a few minutes before the blast took place.
The owner, an ethnic Chinese. had lodged a report at nearby Central police station.
