Wanita Umno wants status quo for top Umno posts

Wanita Umno has agreed to support the status quo of the Umno president and deputy president posts, vowing to "fight" anyone who wanted to contest the top two posts.

Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said the decision was reached during the wing’s executive council meeting recently.

"If anyone wants to contest the posts, Wanita Umno will fight till the end and become the first line of defence for the two (top leaders)," she was reported as saying by Berita Harian.

Shahrizat also confirmed that she would be defending her post as the Wanita chief for a second term.

Meanwhile, Berita Harian also reported that Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin had offered to contest for the Puteri Umno chief post.

This is following current Puteri chief Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin's decision to contest for the Wanita Umno leadership post in the upcoming Umno polls.

Mas Ermieyati is currently the Puteri Umno chief in Malacca. 

"My experience as a Puteri leader at a state level for 12 years will give me an advantage to lead the movement at the national level," she was quoted as saying.
