"The top leadership in Terengganu PAS are waithing for things to develop to see what is the final score, so to speak," PAS' Kuala Terengganu MP Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad toldMalaysiakini.
"This is an internal Umno problem and we don't want to be seen to be instigating anything. We will make a decision when it is clear who is one which side."
He said that the options, including asking for a dissolution of the state assembly, will be discussed in an emergency meeting.
As at 12pm, three Terengganu assemblypersons have quit Umno to turn Independent with more expected to follow suit.
Leading the defection is Kijal assemblyperson Ahmad Said, who was replaced as menteri besar yesterday.
This makes the state government a minority government, with BN holding 14 seats, Pakatan Rakyat 15 and three now belonging to Independents.
The Terengganu PAS reps statements come as PAS central leadership indicate preference to go back to the polls.
"To protect the good name of the sultan and the palace in this political crisis, it is better for the Speaker to act swiftly and declare the assembly dissolved," information chief Mahfuz Omar is quoted by party mouthpiece Harakahdaily.
