Police chief fires at 'cheap publicity' Sanjeevan

Sabah police chief Hamza Taib has accused crime watchdog MyWatch chief R Sri Sanjeevan of seeking cheap publicity with his allegations against his son.

He revealed that his son, Mohammad Azhan, 30, has been running a business in Kuala Lumpur for many years and is not unemployed as alleged.

At a press conference this morning, Sanjeevan claimed that Azhan owns two luxury cars with a combined value of more than RM1 million.

His bank accounts, the MyWatch chief alleged, had transactions to the value of some RM500,000 in the last six months, up to April.

Commenting on the cars, Hamza said his son, being a young man, had a passion for such vehicles.

"Young men earn money and buy cars. I don't know whether a two-door car is considered a luxury car," he is quoted as saying bySin Chew Online.

The top cop also expressed concern that his son, a law graduate, and daughter-in-law would not be able to pay the instalments.

However, Hamza said since the couple is staying in his house in Kuala Lumpur, they need not be concerned about paying a housing loan.

He also revealed that his daughter-in-law, a lawyer, has stopped practising and is now a housewife as the couple is trying to have a child.
