Ambiga: A 'Nazi-like' agenda at work
Aries46: Former Bersih co-ordinator S Ambiga is spot on. There are dark forces with evil designs at work with an insidious agenda that could probably wreak havoc to our racial and religious harmony if left unchecked.
What is scary is the impunity, boldness and ease with which these so-called religious outfits rear their ugly heads and disparage others - a clear violation of our laws.
The mere tokenism by those in authority makes one wonder if there are hidden hands in power that manoeuver these outfits and their outbursts to serve their own selfish ends.
It is time that the voices of rationality and moderation, regardless of ethnicity, speak up against those that are hell bent on destroying the nation.
What is most upsetting though is the elegant silence of the Umno leadership as if to give tacit approval to these unsavoury outfits at the expense of all peace-loving Malaysians.
This in turn raises the suspicion that there is more to this open display of racism and bigotry than that meets the eyes.
Ramc: You are right, Ambiga. I strongly believe that these goons are making the moves for somebody in Umno. They are setting the stage for racial disintegration, because they know they will be losing in the coming general election.
I appeal to all right-minded fellow brothers and sisters in the Malay community to stand up and voice against these outrageous actions and statements by Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) and the other Umno stooges.
Pemerhati: Umno has subcontracted its dirty work of creating disharmony and racial and religious tension among the ethnic and religious groups in Malaysia, to organisations like Isma, Perkasa, etc.
In addition, it has other strategies to polarise and divide the people such as exploiting the 'Allah' and bible issues and organising the cow and pig head mischiefs.
Umno does all these because it feels that the above despicable and crooked activities will make the majority of Malays think that Umno is the champion of their race and religion.
This would then result in Umno getting their support and thus enable them to win the elections. They also hope that the various ethnic groups will get angry and start disliking one another. Thus in case they lose the elections, it would be easy to start another May 13 and continue to stay in power.
The more nervous Umno gets about losing the next elections, the more mischief it will subcontract to organisations like Isma, Perkasa and others.
Abasir: I have always maintained that it is a close contest between Najib and Dr Mahathir Mohamad when it comes to the question of who has done more harm to the country.
While the latter had 22 years to do mischief and subvert all the institutions, the former has managed to unleash evil much more insidiously and efficiently with cover provided by the Global Movement of Moderates, his self-serving ministers and his 1Malaysia sloganeering.
The 'Nazism' we are witnessing now is the result of the convergence of Mahathir's active stoking of the fires and Najib's silent, behind-the-scenes manoeuvring, while the law keepers and law makers look the other way.
To make matters worse, the country suffers from a leadership deficit. Apart from periodic sense coming from the direction of independent commentors like former law minister Zaid Ibrahim et al, there are no reassuring voices. None.
As we are pulled back to less civilised times, the bard's words appear most apt: "Mischief, thou art afoot. Take thou what course thou will."
Blackberry: The likes of Isma and Perkasa are getting a lot of media attention, gaining popularity and making headlines. I wonder if this is the very intention of the evil hands at work?
We have a silent PM who seems more interested in finding RM1 chicken and bringing down the kangkung prices, even running and cycling.
Anonymous #07688157: It is really sad that after so many years of independence we have this nonsense. What's worse is that no one from Umno is doing anything to stop this.
I have not mentioned MCA and MIC because they are dead and should be gone, but are still clinging to the side of their graves.
Boonpou: It is not only disturbing but sick that the moderate and progressive Muslims in Malaysia have not said anything about it.
What are they waiting for? Before their sons and daughters get into trouble with hudud? Before their sons and daughters face the possibilities of being amputated?
This is insane. This is insane that the moderate and progressive Muslims are so passive, both vocally and politically.
Ronald: Just don't waste time with this Isma president. The more attention you give him the more he utters racist remarks. He is taunting us in a belligerent manner and saying, "Damn, if I care about your remarks, you pendatangs."
We should just swat away these pesky little flies.
Gerard Lourdesamy: There are overt and covert attempts to heighten racial and religious tensions in the country to cause another May 13 incident that will lead to a declaration of a state of emergency, the suspension of Parliament and of federal and state elections and the arrest of opposition leaders.
A National Operations Council would be set up and Prime Minister Najib Razak will be told to step down as PM by the Umno warlords headed by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his sidekick Daim Zainuddin.
The next PM will be Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi with Mukhriz Mahathir as his deputy. This is likely the grand design in Umno.
If I were Najib, it is time to wield the considerable power and prestige of his office to finish off his opponents by using the Special Branch, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the media.
Ban certain organisations that are deemed a security threat, arrest their leaders under Sosma or the Sedition Act and delay party elections until he can purge the party of Mahathir/Daim loyalists and their cronies.
If the purse strings are severed, all Umno leaders at the division and branch levels will fall in line.
Kathleen Ong: The easiest way to remain in power and to continue looting is to distract the nation. And the best way to divide a nation is through religion.
The more the nation is not united, the lesser is the accountability by the ‘leaders’. Go figure. -Mkini
