Confusion in Bersatu after Anina 'removed' as Srikandi chief

Confusion reigns in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) after one of its founding members Anina Saadudin claimed that she had been stripped of her position as the party's Srikandi (women's wing) chief.
Anina said that she was informed of the move a few days ago by Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir and secretary-general Shahruddin Md Salleh.
"They told me I was not appointed as Srikandi chief by the presidential council," she told Malaysiakini.
Anina's appointment, as well as that of other Bersatu leaders, was reported on Nov 2.
When she queried about this, Anina said she was informed that she was only appointed as the sponsor for the Srikandi wing, although other positions were confirmed.
She believed that her "dismissal" may be related to recent allegations by several blogs that she was involved in a "sex scandal".
According to Bersatu information chief Kamaruddin Md, Anina was never Srikandi chief to begin with.
"She was never appointed, because the Srikandi wing hasn't even been formally established," he said when contacted.
He said the appointment of four other Srikandi leaders earlier this month was also invalid. He added that Shahruddin will issue a statement on this issue tomorrow.
The confusion over Anina's position as Bersatu Srikandi chief comes a week after several blogs accused her of trading lurid text messages with an unknown individual.
She had reportedly brushed off the allegations against her as a normal part of politics.Asked how she felt about being stripped of her position, the former Langkawi Wanita Umno member replied: "Ask Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz how they felt when they were stripped of their posts in Umno."

"When I was defending them, I forgot to ask how they felt, I just stood up to defend them without thinking too much," she added.
She said she has not spoken about the matter with Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
On whether she was still loyal to the party, Anina said she was "loyal to the public."-Mkini
