Following Muhyiddin Yassin's resignation as prime minister, Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali said the civil service will continue with its duties and serve the people.
Zuki reassured that all civil servants, particularly frontliners, remain committed to delivering government services and will not be affected by the situation.
"The civil service is committed to upholding the concept of neutrality and government of the day based on rule of law.
"The government machinery always strives to execute all decisions which have been agreed upon, ensuring the best delivery of service for the people in these challenging times," he said in a statement today.
In the absence of a cabinet, Zuki (above) said all ministry secretaries-general and department directors-general will be leading the daily administration, while security forces are on standby to maintain public safety and peace.
"All efforts, assistance and initiatives that involved a large amount of allocation will not be affected, for the wellbeing of all, including the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme," he added.
Muhyiddin had tendered his resignation, along with the entire cabinet, in an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong this afternoon.
The king accepted his resignation and Istana Negara earlier said Muhyiddin will serve as the caretaker prime minister until a successor is appointed. - Mkini
