Let Agong form emergency council to handle the crises facing the nation

From Nik Azmi

Who is lying and who is telling the truth does not seem to matter anymore.

The truth is when a government is formed with a razor-thin majority, political instability will be the order of the day as a shift of even one or two votes may see the government changing hands overnight. Instability in the government leads to a multitude of problems.

The numbers game must end now, especially when the country is in dire straits with the rakyat falling sick by the tens of thousands and dying in the hundreds daily.

Let the numbers game stop at the 4D outlets.

The number of people with no food on the table, who are jobless or penniless, or who have been driven out of rented homes or rooms is increasing.

Businesses are closing down in droves, while debts are mounting.

If the politicians are really sincere in wanting to serve the rakyat and the country, all the leaders from both sides of the divide must come together and seek a joint audience with the Yang diPertuan Agong and hand over power to him to declare a constitutional, health, economic, social and education Emergency immediately.

Should these leaders fail to do so, the Agong must summon all of them together – simultaneously and not separately – and tell them that he wants this non-military Emergency to commence immediately to try and save the country.

The Agong must also be free from political pressure to put in place the best possible emergency council capable of riding the storm.

The crisis is real. We need capable people to carve out a lasting solution with the help and cooperation of everyone regardless of political affiliation.

It is wise too, to consider stopping all political activities outside the realm of their own respective parties as these divisive political manoeuvrings will only bring more damage than good in the efforts to bring the country back to normalcy.

The ball is at the feet of the politicians and for the Agong to practice suasion to bring this to fruition. - FMT
