A PAS delegate from Perlis has expressed disappointment over the lack of disciplinary action against certain party leaders, particularly those who shook hands with women.

Saifizi Saidon said a party leader who had repeatedly shaken hands with women faced no consequences, while others, including those who participated in karaoke, were defended by PAS scholars.

“In the past, figures like Hashim Gera were suspended from the party simply for dancing.

This shows how seriously the party took the integrity of its leadership as a key to success,
he said in debating the president’s policy speech at PAS’s 70th muktamar today.
“Yet, today, PAS seems to have drifted away from these principles. We see leaders engaging in activities like karaoke being defended.

Even more disheartening is that leaders who shake hands with women are not held accountable.

Saifizi did not name the individuals involved.

The delegate also raised concerns about the lack of communication regarding issues involving Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli, stating that Perlis PAS had not received any formal report from either the state liaison body or PAS headquarters.

Where is our commitment to fighting for integrity and trust?

On May 2, Shukri asserted that he remained as menteri besar despite calls for his resignation following a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into allegations of abuse of power.

Shukri, who is also the Perlis PAS commissioner, viewed the calls for his resignation as mere social media chatter and not an issue within the party or state administration.

On May 23, Shukri’s son, Syafeeq, was charged in the Kangar sessions court with falsifying claims of more than RM19,000 for the supply of drinks for the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail in February.

MACC had taken Shukri’s statement in April.

At a press conference later, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the issues surrounding Shukri had been discussed at

various levels
.

There are meetings at different levels. Once these issues are discussed at the PAS central level, the decisions are communicated to the states,
 he said. - FMT
