KL-Karak highway blocked after tanker overturns

PETALING JAYA: 

An oil tanker crashed and overturned, blocking the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway this evening.

The accident occurred at Km27.8 at about 5.30pm.

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said all lanes were blocked due to the accident and advised motorists to use alternative routes, Bernama reported.

The accident did not involve any other vehicle.

LLM said they have diverted vehicles to exit to the Genting Sempah intersection and use Jalan Gombak.

The highway operator has also made a 

median opening

 for vehicles stuck in the traffic jam to allow them to make a U-turn at Km28.4 and turn back towards Genting Sempah to exit the route.

Fire and rescue department personnel have been deployed to the scene. - FMT
