Should non-Muslims trust PAS to rule Selangor after it promises to preserve their lifestyle?

SUCH is the provocative question to Selangor folks after Ratu Naga – the pro-opposition social media influencer – echoed the call by the state’s PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri that the Islamist party “will always respect the rights of non-Muslims and would never force them to change their lifestyle” should it control Selangor.

The political activist whose real name is Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah further reminded Selangorians that “when PAS ruled their state, not even one non-Muslim was oppressed unlike in the rocket state where 80% of Type M were oppressed because 20% were lackeys”.

This is when Madani government backer Amer Hamzah (@amer7211) cautioned non-Muslims against having short memory by furnishing photo-evidence of the incident when a 35-year-old non-Muslim boutique shop owner was compounded in June 2023 “for wearing shorts in her shop”.

Another warned of the potential closure of 4D number forecast operators like what had happened in Kedah (and other PAS-ruled states).

Another commenter chided Ratu Naga for her misleading and slanderous post by uploading video of a Muslim Penangite praising the DAP-ruled state “for increasing the state budget for Muslim welfare while mosque and surau are operating as usual with no ban on the azan (call for prayers).”

Many commenters also ticked off the former PKR Wanita information chief for “day-dreaming as non-Muslims are unlikely to support PAS”.

While one commenter dubbed PAS as “Parti Ajaran Sesat” (literally, “Deviant Teaching Party”), another corrected Ratu Naga thar “PAS has never ruled Selangor but has only served as Menteri Besar-aspirant Jemin’s (Selangor opposition leader and former MB Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali) concubine”.

The bottom line is, as one commenter pointed out, non-Muslims can make up their mind after evaluating for themselves the progress in Kelantan which is deemed as a model PAS state. –  Focus Malaysia
