KUALA LUMPUR
National shot put thrower Nani Sahirah Maryata broke her own women’s national shot put record again, hours after Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli smashed the 31-year-old national record for the women’s 100m sprint set in 1993.

Nani’s throw of 15.39m at the Perlis Open athletic championships surpassed her old record of 15.22m set last year at the Perak Open. The silver and bronze medals went to Nurrul Ainin Syauqina M Nor Azhar (13m) and Norliyana Kamaruddin (11.20m).

She said her throw equalled the silver medal winning distance at the SEA Games in Cambodia last year but for Thailand (next year),

I am naturally aiming to win gold
.

Zaidatul smashed the 31-year-old national record in the women’s 100m sprint, held by G Shanti since 1993. Zaidatul, 31, known as ‘Adik’, recorded a time of 11.49s to erase Shanti’s record of 11.50s.

She had previously clocked a wind-assisted time of 11.45s in 2017 at an athletics event in South Africa. - FMT
