Wan Fayhsal appeals to PAS for patience as Samsuri quits PN post

Bersatu supreme council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal appealed to PAS not to make hasty decisions following Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar’s resignation as Perikatan Nasional treasurer-general.

“It’s hard for me to talk about this as I don’t sit in the PN supreme council.

“So, it’s difficult for me to elaborate on Samsuri’s decision as I have no idea why he quit. It’s between him and the PN chairperson (Muhyiddin Yassin).

“In any case, I pray and perhaps, appeal to our friends in PAS to be patient… jangan marahkan nyamuk, kelambu dibakar (don’t cut off one’s nose to spite one’s face),” he said during a presser at Parliament today.

Yesterday, Samsuri, who is also a PAS vice-president, announced his resignation as PN treasurer-general through a brief statement.

In the statement, the Kemaman MP said he had submitted his resignation letter to PN’s leadership.

The resignation came just two days after PN’s supreme council confirmed six key party appointments, including secretary-general, women’s chief, information chief, and supreme council members.

The meeting saw Bersatu retaining all six major positions in PN, despite PAS requesting that the secretary-general post be given to Takiyuddin Hassan, who is also PAS secretary-general.

‘Shocked’

Meanwhile, PN Women’s Wing chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin acknowledged that she was shocked by Samsuri’s decision.

She added that Samsuri was absent during the PN supreme council meeting held on Monday (Dec 9).

“I have no information as I just got appointed (to the PN supreme council). I was there to get my appointment as PN Women’s Wing chief.

“But on the day of the meeting, Samsuri was absent. Naturally, I’m shocked but I’m not sure about other leaders,” she said after holding a press conference in Parliament today as Public Accounts Committee chairperson today.
