RTD third-party agents an alternative access channel, says Loke

KUALA LUMPUR: Third-party collection agents are intended to serve as an alternative option for accessing Road Transport Department (RTD) transactional services through additional platforms, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

In a written parliamentary reply, he said claims that the department is understaffed are unfounded, as all its payment channels, including counters, kiosks, the MyJPJ application and the MySikap portal are still operated by the department.

"Third-party collection agents are intended to serve as an alternative option for accessing RTD transactional services through additional platforms, either physically, such as at post offices via Pos Malaysia and vehicle inspection centres (PPKM) via Puspakom, or online, such as through the MyEG portal, car trading platforms like Carsome and motorcycle trading platforms like Rider Gate," he said.

He was responding to Khairil Nizam Khirudin (PN-Jerantut), Ismail Muttalib (PN-Maran), Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan (PN-Permatang Pauh) and Shaharizukirnain Abd Kadir (PN-Setiu), who inquired about the justification for appointing third-party collection agents.

On Dec 8, Ramssol Group Bhd's unit Rider Gate Sdn Bhd was appointed by the Transport Ministry as an authorised collection agent for motor vehicle ownership transfers, motor vehicle licence renewals and traffic summons payments.

Through the Rider Gate application portal, Malaysians can now access a fully digital service platform for essential RTD transactions.

The services include motor vehicle licence renewals, summons payments and ownership transfers, offered for a nominal fee per transaction. - NST
