Look at your own party before calling us bullies, PAS leader tells Puad

 Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi should reflect on his party’s treatment of MIC in Barisan Nasional, instead of claiming PAS would bully the BN component party if it joins Perikatan Nasional, says a PAS leader.

Iskandar Abdul Samad pointed to a July 27 report by Utusan Malaysia, in which MIC deputy president M Saravanan accused Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi of misleading the party over Cabinet posts.

“We all know who the bullies in politics really are,” the PAS treasurer told FMT.

Earlier today, Puad warned MIC against joining PN, telling the party in a Facebook post to “look at how PAS bullies Bersatu”.

He claimed that about 95% of MIC’s central working committee members wanted the party to remain in BN, and urged MIC president SA Vigneswaran to maintain the status quo.

Talk of MIC leaving BN has been circulating, especially after its general assembly in November, when delegates gave the leadership a mandate to consider such a move amid dissatisfaction over the party’s role and relevance.

Yesterday, Saravanan said the party would remain in BN for now, but denied that this meant ruling out the possibility of MIC joining PN.

The former minister said MIC had not rejected PN outright but that developments within the opposition coalition required the party to reassess its position, especially with PAS now leading the coalition. - FMT
