Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said the boy was alone in the apartment during the incident.
He said police received a report at about 7.45pm from a woman who informed them that a boy had fallen and was unconscious.
“An initial investigation found that the victim had fallen from the 13th floor and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.42pm by a medical assistant from Ampang Hospital,” he said in a statement.
He said police have recorded five statements, including those from the victim’s family and the public.
A post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted today.
Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which concerns the neglect, abandonment, or abuse of a child. - FMT
