Boy, 9, dies after fall from 13th floor apartment

Police received a report at about 7.45pm yesterday from a woman who informed them that a boy had fallen and was unconscious.

A nine-year-old boy died yesterday after falling from the 13th floor of an apartment building at Taman Cahaya Ampang, Selangor.

Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said the boy was alone in the apartment during the incident.

He said police received a report at about 7.45pm from a woman who informed them that a boy had fallen and was unconscious.

“An initial investigation found that the victim had fallen from the 13th floor and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.42pm by a medical assistant from Ampang Hospital,” he said in a statement.

He said police have recorded five statements, including those from the victim’s family and the public.

A post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted today.

Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which concerns the neglect, abandonment, or abuse of a child.  - FMT
