PAS deputy president dismisses claims that his party was offered seats and appointments to certain positions by Umno as part of an electoral pact.

Tuan Ibrahim dismissed claims that PAS was offered seats and appointments to certain positions by Umno as part of an understanding, particularly ahead of the state elections in Johor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka.
“So far, no decisions have been made regarding cooperation as talks are currently under way. Claims that PAS has been offered seats and appointments to certain positions are simply rumours,” he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
The Kubang Kerian MP also said PAS would still contest the state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
“We have already launched our state election machinery and are now focused on winning the seats we will be contesting,” said Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman.
He was responding to allegations that Umno had offered PAS several state and parliamentary seats in Johor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka as part of an arrangement to prevent clashes in the upcoming state polls and the 16th general election.
On Friday, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said a meeting between PAS and Umno leaders the previous night only discussed ways to cooperate and maintain national political stability.
Zahid also said the meeting did not involve party presidents, or touch on the revival of the Muafakat Nasional (MN) alliance.
FMT previously quoted an unnamed Bersatu leader as accusing PAS of attempting to revive its MN alliance with Umno without going through official PN channels.
The Bersatu Supreme Council member alleged that at the meeting on Thursday, PAS negotiated a new political arrangement involving Umno and figures aligned with former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin.
MN was formalised by Umno and PAS in 2019, but effectively collapsed after PAS joined Bersatu to form PN the following year. - FMT
