KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the issues surrounding Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ismail Lasim's signing of a proclamation seeking to remove the state ruler can be resolved soon.

"There are some developments which I think are resolvable. I think they can be resolved soon," he told reporters briefly after the closing of the 2026 Umno General Assembly today.

The Deputy Prime Minister was responding to a question about developments concerning his meeting with Ismail over the matter.

On Tuesday, Zahid said he would seek an explanation from Ismail during the assembly over his claim that he had been forced to sign a proclamation seeking to remove Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

Zahid had said Ismail's account should be verified by the lawyer present at the signing. He also denied attending the signing or receiving a resignation letter from the menteri besar.

He said the state government considered the document invalid, unconstitutional and unenforceable as it did not comply with the procedures under Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan 1959. - NST
