Several bigwigs are looking to be elected to another term as assemblymen, including chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh, state PH chief Adly Zahari, and Umno firebrand Dr Akmal Saleh.
BN and PAS-led Perikatan Nasional are joining forces once again, in an election some say could be a precursor to the next general election, while Pakatan Harapan and former component Bersatu have reunited under a pact, though they will clash in a handful of seats.
Several bigwigs are looking to be elected to another term as assemblymen, including BN’s chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh (Tanjung Bidara), Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh (Merlimau) and MCA vice-president Lim Ban Hong (Kelebang).
For PH, the biggest candidates being fielded are former chief minister Adly Zahari (Bukit Katil) and Azman Abidin (Paya Rumput), a political secretary to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
PN will field former state opposition leader Dr Yadzil Yaakub in Bemban, while former Dewan Negara deputy president Ali Mohamad is Bersatu’s candidate in Kelebang.
Bersama, led by several former PKR leaders such as Rafizi Ramli, is fielding 16 candidates, while Putra has nominated one candidate.
