PAS’s Mata Ayer rep dies at 50

PAS’s Mata Ayer assemblyman, Wan Badariah Wan Saad, has died at the age of 50.

In a Facebook post, Perlis PAS said Wan Badariah breathed her last at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah in Kangar at 4.26pm today.

In May 2024, she was placed in an induced coma after suffering heart and lung complications, and spent about a month in intensive care before being moved to a normal ward and discharged.

Wan Badariah, a shariah lawyer, was elected Mata Ayer assemblyman in 2022, defeating her rivals from Umno and PKR with a majority of 2,021 votes.

She was a member of the Perlis executive council under the Shukri Ramli administration, overseeing the women, family, community development, tourism, welfare, and disaster relief portfolios. - FMT
