PETALING JAYA: A total of 35 areas recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at an unhealthy level as of 8am on Wednesday (Oct 7), with Batu Pahat in Johor recording the highest reading at 191.
According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, other areas in Johor recording unhealthy readings were Segamat (177), Tangkak (170), Kota Tinggi (164) and Kluang (161).
In Negeri Sembilan, Nilai recorded an API reading of 181 and Port Dickson 169, while Bukit Rambai and Alor Gajah in Melaka recorded readings of 176 and 173 respectively.
In Selangor, Johan Setia recorded an API of 189, Shah Alam (180), Petaling Jaya and Banting (both 175) and Klang (169).
Other places were Cheras (188), Putrajaya (186), Temerloh (168); Indera Mahkota (162) and Rompin (158) Pahang; Tanjung Malim (154) and Pegoh (107) in Perak.
Additionally, 31 areas nationwide recorded API readings at a moderate level, while two areas recorded good air quality.
API readings of 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings exceeding 300 are hazardous. - Star
