Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali said the closure was a precautionary measure to protect pupils' health and safety.
"Following the decree of His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail, Regent of Johor, all schools throughout Johor will be closed for two days on Oct 8 and 9 due to the haze and deteriorating air quality across all districts," he said in a statement today.

He said schools conducting the Year Four Learning Matrix (MPT4) or other assessments would postpone them, with new dates to be determined by the Johor Education Department and relevant authorities.
Naqib said home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) would continue during the closure to ensure pupils did not fall behind academically.
He also urged parents and guardians to monitor their children's health, limit outdoor activities and ensure they drank enough water.
"Parents should seek immediate medical attention if their children experience symptoms such as coughing, sore throat or breathing difficulties," he said.
Naqib said the state government and relevant agencies would continue monitoring Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, with the closure subject to developments in the haze situation.
He acknowledged that the decision could affect working parents and urged employers to provide reasonable flexibility to those affected, where possible.
"The safety and health of Johor's children must remain our shared priority," he said.
The closure comes as haze levels across Johor deteriorated, with several areas recording unhealthy API readings today. - NST
