The Bersatu information chief says elected representatives who quit the party must give up their seat and pay the party RM10 million.

In a Facebook post, he reminded Bersatu’s elected representatives of the oath and pledge they made to the party when selected as candidates for elections.
“If you leave the party or join another party, you will be cursed by Allah, the Prophet and the believers, and any expenditure using the elected representative’s allowance will be considered haram,” he said.
Tun Faisal also shared a screenshot of a pledge document stating that elected representatives would need to resign as state assemblymen, MPs or senators if they quit the party.
“Should I leave the party, I agree to pay RM10 million to Bersatu immediately,” the pledge read.
While Tun Faisal mentioned no names, his remarks come after Terengganu executive councillor Razali Idris hinted at leaving Bersatu for a new party, more than a month after relinquishing his post as Terengganu Bersatu chairman.
The Kijal assemblyman said Sept 30 marked his final day as a Bersatu leader after 10 years of holding a leadership post in the Umno splinter party.
Razali, in response to Tun Faisal, said in a Facebook post that part of the pledge that he signed was to comply with party directives that do not conflict with the teachings of Islam.
“But what happened in Perlis, for example?” Razali said, without elaborating further.
In December, five Bersatu and three PAS assemblymen withdrew support for Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli from PAS, triggering a leadership crisis.
Shukri resigned, citing health reasons. The state assembly speaker subsequently declared the three PAS-held seats vacant.
Bersatu’s Abu Bakar Hamzah became menteri besar, shifting the Perlis government from PAS to Bersatu.
The Kangar Bersatu division committee, along with leaders of its youth and women’s wings and “90 branch chiefs”, have since left the party to join Wawasan last month.
The defections came a day after Padang Besar Bersatu deputy chief Ramzi Udi and 19 other party leaders and members announced their departure, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership. - FMT
