PARLIAMENT | Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today asked why Ahmad Maslan (BN-Pontian) had not raised his proposals to improve Felda during the previous BN administration.
Ahmad had been speaking during the debate of the Felda White Paper in the Dewan Rakyat today. He was listing 10 proposals to improve Felda, and claimed that Felda's commercial arm, FGV, only suffered losses under the Pakatan Harapan administration.
Mahathir, who was present at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting, caught Ahmad by surprise when he requested to interject during the latter’s speech.
"Today is a historic day," said Ahmad in response, drawing laughter from other MPs.
"As the Langkawi parliamentarian, I am impressed with the fairy tale conveyed (in the House)," said Mahathir, in a sardonic manner.
"I am astonished why he (Ahmad) did not tell his previous ‘Bossku’ (former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak) about these tales, so that we would not have had any problems today and there would be no need for a White Paper, as everything would be clean," the premier added.
He said that “robbers” (penyangak) had left behind a mess which the Harapan government needed to clean up.
Ahmad, however, denied telling fairy tales, reiterating that FGV had suffered losses after Harapan took over the government.
"FGV made a profit between 2012 and 2015 and you can cross-check," he said.
