Felda HQ is 'jammed' with 100 new cars, says Anwar

PARLIAMENT | Felda’s headquarters in the Kuala Lumpur city centre is ‘jammed’ with 100 new cars purchased by the government agency's management, claimed Pakatan Harapan de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim today.
The Port Dickson parliamentarian said this while expressing concerns over the government's decision to inject RM6.23 billion to bail out Felda.
He urged the government to provide details of how the allocation will be spent.
"In such a situation where Felda is bleeding, I was made to understand 100 cars were bought by Felda.
"Felda's headquarters is jammed with these new cars. Perhaps these (cars) were old orders, but this old behaviour of the management must be corrected," he said when debating the Felda White Paper in the Dewan Rakyat.
"While the people and the settlers were facing hardships, these cars were purchased, supposedly to meet urgent needs," he said.
He said that Felda’s operation costs had jumped from RM400,000 to RM1.4 billion when Mohd Isa Abdul Samad became chairperson, and this figure had been maintained until now.
Anwar urged Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to pay a visit to Felda Global Ventures Holding Bhd (FGV), saying that its president's office is four times bigger than the premier’s.
