JOHOR BARU: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) will not helm Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia for much longer, with his replacement to be named after Hari Raya Aiidilfitri.
Its media director Mohd Solihan Badri said that his replacement had already been selected and Bersatu secretary general Datuk Marzuki Yahya would prepare an official letter of appointment.
"The official announcement will be made by incumbent Johor Bersatu chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also party president, after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays and before party elections," he added.
Mohd Solihan said this when at the launch of the Bersatu book, "Mulanya di sini ... Johor Baru (It Begins Here... Johor Baru)" by Muhyiddin at a hotel here on Sunday (April 28).
He declined to reveal the name of the new state chairman, saying the announcement would be made by Muhyiddin.
Mohd Solihan refuted a report by a Malay daily on Saturday (April 27), which claimed that former Johor executive councillor and Tebrau Bersatu division chief Mazlan Bujang would take over the post.

Mohd Solihan refuted a report by a Malay daily on Saturday (April 27), which claimed that former Johor executive councillor and Tebrau Bersatu division chief Mazlan Bujang would take over the post.
The report claimed that Mazlan had received majority support from division chiefs who attended a meeting held at the state party headquarters.
"We have 26 divisions but only 22 chiefs and their representatives attended the meeting. The remaining four did not attend.
"No voting nor show of hands were done in the meeting," he said.
Muhyiddin is the current Johor Bersatu chairman while newly-minted state Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal is the secretary.- Star
