PETALING JAYA: Two academicians, who were among the 70 Malay professors who backed Anwar Ibrahim as the next prime minister, have retracted their support for the Pakatan Harapan chairman.
They are Ishak Yussof and Ahmad Mujahid Ahmad Zaidi, Sinar Harian reported.
Saadiah Mohamad, the coordinator of the loose group of Malay professors known as G70, said the duo’s names had been included in the list of signatories prior to the declaration being released on Wednesday.
“The updated list can be viewed at http://g70prof.com,” Saadiah was quoted as saying.
Yesterday, G70 endorsed Anwar Ibrahim as the next prime minister, citing his track record and credibility.
The group’s spokesman Wan Ramli Wan Daud said Anwar had the experience and integrity to lead a multiracial society and improve Malaysia’s image. - FMT
