Yesterday I went with the Mrs to the local supermarket. 

The regular eggs (36 eggs per tray, just over 30+ sen each) were not available. Completely empty. 

The expensive 65 sen per egg variety was available. 

10 eggs per plastic tray at RM6.50 per tray. These are the high protein, high this and high that eggs bla bla. 

Makanan orang kaya. Can you imagine 65 sen per egg!

The market is not stupid. Market means pasaran bebas. And no right thinking chicken farmer with millions invested in the chicken farms (one chicken guy told me the minimum investment to open a chicken farm is RM2.0 MILLION!) is going to tell his chickens to stop laying eggs. 

Businessmen do not do crazy things like that. 

So it is NOT a good idea to ask F_MA to "masuk campur" to check out the "ketimbangan" of the harga jualan  between the 'pengeluar' and the peruncit / pengguna. 

Who is F_MA?   What do they know? What have they contributed to lowering prices over the past 50 years? Isnt F_MA leftover baggage from the Zaman Kezaliman Mahazalim. The same Mahazalim fellows who finally lost the elections and even lost their deposits? So now you want to carry the F_MA baggage on your own head? 

Hello Brader, we need some original thinking lah. Itu Dasar Ekonomi Baru sudah tak boleh pakai. Sudah basi. Dalam buku teks ekonomi pun tak ada sebut "dasar-dasar" Dasar Ekonomi Baru.

Anyway here is some 'egg-breaking'  news:

• compounds: 13 producers, 54 wholesalers, 2,138 chicken, egg retailers

(OSTB : Stupid allegations by stupid people. Eggs are perishable items. To store them will cost extra money for storage. Chicken farmers and egg producers are not morons. They will not do things that will cost them extra money and expenses). 

Before I forget, let me repeat what Nurul Izzah said. Nurul Izzah once said "You cannot tax the people into prosperity" or words to that effect.

THIS IS THE RULE NUMBER ONE OF TAXATION 

Each time you impose any kind of tax on the economy of a country (be it against the rich, the poor, against the companies, syarikat gergasi, chicken farms or against the SMEs) each and every taxation will make the economy and the people poorer.  

Yes every country needs to have taxation but remember that taxation ALWAYS MAKES THE ECONOMY POORER. THIS IS RULE NUMBER ONE. 

Similarly each time you impose fines, compounds, take actions etc against food producers or any producer, it increases their financial burdens. It makes their cost of doing business more expensive. 

SO HERE IS RULE NUMBER ONE ABOUT HIGHER COST OF DOING BUSINESS - IT DESTROYS PRODUCTIVE CAPACITY. 

HIGHER COST OF DOING BUSINESS DESTROYS OUTPUT. 

PLEASE KEEP THESE TWO RULES INSIDE YOUR OTAK. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

So ACCORDING TO THE NEWS REPORT ABOVE the sec-gen is happily reporting that he collected RM534,000 in compounds. He is happily announcing that he confiscated RM 336,000 worth of "items".

That means the chicken farmers have lost a total of RM870,000 already. 

Assuming a chicken farm can make 10% profit from sales it implies  (rough calculation ok) that  the RM870,000 translates into :   100/10 x RM870,000 = RM8.7 MILLION IN SALES OF CHICKENS AND EGGS.

So about RM8.7 million of chicken farm sales was burnt up just to pay RM870,000 for the compounds and for the items confiscated.

So here is a question : will all this compounding and confiscating add to the supply of  eggs or decrease the supply of eggs?

To close this walkabout here are some pointers:

Only a moron farmer or producer will hoard fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are perishables. Fruits and vegetables will go bad (jadi busuk, jadi basi) very quickly. You do not hoard fruits and vegetables. 

You CANNOT put vegetables in a freezer. Not only will it cost the farmers electricity and extra money BUT WHERE IN THE WORLD CAN YOU FIND A FREEZER (OR REFRIGERATOR) TO STORE 50 LORRIES OF VEGETABLES? HELLO, PLEASE GUNA  OTAK OK?

Only a moron farmer or producer will hoard fish, eggs and chickens. Fish, eggs and chickens are all perishables. Fish, eggs and chickens will all go bad (jadi busuk, jadi basi) very quickly. You do not hoard fish eggs and chickens.

SYARAT UTAMA UNTUK KURANGKAN KOS SARA HIDUP : PLEASE GUNA OTAK. MAKE IT EASY FOR THE FARMERS TO PRODUCE CHICKEN AND EGGS. OR TO PRODUCE VEGETABLES AND FRUITS. JANGAN MENYUSAHKAN MANUSIA. JANGAN MENYUSAHKAN FARMERS.

YOU CANNOT MENYUSAHKAN THE FARMERS AND THEN EXPECT THEM TO PRODUCE MORE AND MORE.

YOU CANNOT IMPOSE HIGHER AND HIGHER TAXES (ON CARS FOR EXAMPLE) AND EXPECT TO MAKE THE PEOPLES LIVES EASIER AND RICHER.
