SHAH ALAM: Eight people were saved by rescue teams after Kampung Johan Setia in Klang was hit by floodwaters today.
Selangor fire and rescue department director Norazam Khamis said they received a call at 5.50pm and personnel from the Sungai Pinang and Andalas fire and rescue stations reached the location at 7.30pm.
“According to the preliminary report, the water level had risen to 0.6m and five victims were rescued by a volunteer firefighting team. Three senior citizens were rescued by firemen,” he said in a statement today.
He said all the victims have been placed at the temporary evacuation centre in SK Johan Setia, with rescue efforts still ongoing by carrying out inspections in the affected area. - FMT
