GE15 | When public criticism rained on insensitivity by Tajuddin Abdul Rahman after the LRT's worst accident on record last year, it was Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz who axed the Umno leader as Prasarana chairperson.
Fast forward to today, and there is another clamour for change in Prasarana - which is owned by the Finance Ministry - after a large section of the Kelana Jaya line was shut down for almost a week.
However, Zafrul (above) said now is not the right time to do so, as the government is currently a caretaker one.
"Well we are the caretaker government now, it is not the right time to do it," he told reporters after a campaign event in Bestari Jaya today.
Zafrul is BN's candidate for the Kuala Selangor seat.
Problems with the Kelana Jaya line's automatic train control system (ATC) - which caused trains to disappear from Rapid Rail's monitors - prompted a shutdown of services from Kelana Jaya to Ampang Park.
The massive disruption has prompted politicians to call for heads to roll in Prasarana.
The rail service, which was supposed to be suspended for a week, will resume tomorrow, with Prasarana offering free rides for one week and an extension for commuters using the My50 public transport pass. - Mkini
