Pahang, Perlis will get PAS menteris besar - Muhyiddin

10.05am: Perikatan Nasional will have menteris besar from PAS for Perlis and Pahang if the coalition captures the two states in GE15, according to its chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man

"God willing, Perlis will be captured by PN in GE15, and if that happens, we will have a PAS leader leading the state.

"In Pahang (PAS deputy president) Tuan Ibrahim (Tuan Man) is contesting a parliamentary, and state seat, and if we win in the state, he will become the menteri besar there," Berita Harian quoted Muhyiddin saying at a ceramah in Pendang, Kedah, last night. Both Perlis and Pahang are currently held by BN.

Muhyiddin says PN has no issues letting PAS leaders administer Perlis and Pahang, given their "excellent track record" in states the Islamist party already leads - namely Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

The incumbent Pagoh MP also urges Umno supporters to consider speculations that the nationalist party may work with (Pakatan Harapan chairperson) Anwar Ibrahim to form a government, post-GE15.

"BN has admitted that it would not win enough seats to form a government, and (it's) willing to work with anyone to reach the goal.

"I have heard an audio recording between BN and Harapan (leaders), that Anwar will become the prime minister, and (Umno president Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi) will become his deputy. Also, in Harapan, there is DAP."

Suhakam will monitor the election process

9.45am: Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) will be monitoring the election process on Nov 19.

Suhakam chairperson Rahmat Mohamad

In a statement, Suhakam chairperson Rahmat Mohamad says the right to political participation is guaranteed under the Federal Constitution and is in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

"If any person is aggrieved or believes that there has been any violation of human rights during the election process, you may lodge your complaint with Suhakam," says Rahmat.

Nurul Izzah’s banner vandalised

9.40am: A banner featuring Harapan candidate Nurul Izzah Anwar was vandalised on the very first night of nomination day.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Penang PKR communication chief Amir Ghazali condemned the act and emphasises that elections should be conducted in a professional manner.

‘Vote out Dr M and Anwar, bring peace to M’sia’

9.30am: BN's communications director Shamsul Nasarah candidate urges voters to use the general election to end former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad's and Pakatan Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim's political careers.

He says Malaysians aged below 40 know that the political feud between the duo has persisted for almost their entire lives.

The rift between Mahathir and his then deputy PM Anwar came to a head in 1998, when the latter was arrested and later conviction of sodomy and corruption.

Briefly reconciled in GE14 and in the 22 months that Harapan was in federal power, they are now back on opposing sides.

"It is because of these two that Malaysia faces many problems, and we will continue to lose out if we keep giving them a chance.

"Nov 19 is the best chance to end their political lives and ensure stability and prosperity for all," Shamsul, who is BN's Lenggong candidate, says in a statement.

Kemaman Umno cries foul over 'grabber' poster

9.20am: Several banners put up in Terengganu are depicting state BN chief Ahmad Said in a bad light, resulting in a police report being lodged by Kemaman Umno Youth.

These posters bore the words "Memalukan. Cekor. Pemimpin Umno cabul kehormatan" (Embarrassing. Grabber. Umno leader is outrageous).

According to Sinar Harian, Kemaman Umno Youth chief Hashim Ali told reporters yesterday that his team has removed several posters in Kampung Chabang, Kerteh but more are popping up.

"This is extreme and insulting," he says.

Hannah Yeoh’s banner vandalised

9.10am: Incumbent Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh warns of "voters' wrath" over the vandalism committed to her banner in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur.

The DAP lawmaker took to Twitter this morning to highlight the matter.

The vandalised banner

"To the party who did this - happy dealing with the wrath of the voters in TTDI," she says after captioning a couple of photographs depicting a campaign banner featuring her torn on the face area.

The Segambut aspirant then urged her opponents to stop playing "dirty, disgusting" political games, and compete in a clean and fair manner.
