IPOH: Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was amused over PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s “gigantic” posters seen in several locations here.
“Is that Anwar Ibrahim? I thought it was Godzilla,” said the incumbent Tambun MP when asked about the PKR president’s huge posters.
“I can understand, he (Anwar) is not from here; he needs to introduce himself to Tambun people.
“So if the posters are small, people cannot see but the huge posters can probably draw attention.
“That is his creativity. Fantastic right? If I had money to put up such huge posters, I would love to do it as well, but it is okay, people in Tambun know me,” he said after launching the Esports Youth Cabin at a hotel here Saturday (Nov 12).
Several huge posters of Anwar have been spotted in Manjoi, Hulu Kinta and also along the North-South Expressway heading closer towards the Ipoh toll.
At the same time, a banner of Ahmad Faizal in Tambun was vandalised, where his face was cut out.
Asked if the huge posters would attract more votes, Ahmad Faizal said, “For me, he needs to do that because people are not sure if he can represent Tambun; because he is not from here.
“So he needs to make his presence felt by putting up such posters,” he added.
On his banner vandalised, Ahmad Faizal hoped the small banners and posters of him placed by the roadside were not damaged.
He said this was a democratic process that they were going through.
“We must appreciate the various views, and leave it to the discretion of the people to choose their leader.
“So when such things happen (vandalism), there is bound to be a reaction from the other party, and supporters can get angry.
“I don’t want to point fingers, and vandalism is not something I agree with, even if it involves the posters of my opponents,” he added.
Ahmad Faizal said those who vandalised such posters would probably think that it would give a negative impact on the candidate.
“But it might just backfire, and I would get sympathy from the people instead,” he added. - Star
