GE15: Muhyiddin challenges Anwar to prove Perikatan is the richest coalition

JOHOR BARU: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has refuted Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s claims that Perikatan Nasional is the richest political coalition.

The Perikatan chairman and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president said that Perikatan is only a new coalition that does not have much resources.

“Where is the proof? I can show you the Perikatan bank account and compare it with Pakatan’s bank account if Anwar can provide it.

“I challenge him to come out with proof; if he cannot prove it, then he is the biggest liar, so do not believe him,” he said when met by reporters after a meet and greet session with the community in Taman Sri Stulang here on Tuesday (Nov 15).

Muhyiddin also slammed Anwar’s allegation regarding Barisan Nasional and Perikatan having a meeting to form a new government after the 15th General Election (GE15).

"Again, where is the proof? Do not make allegations without any basis. It is clear that we (Perikatan and Barisan) are attacking one another.

“Anwar likes to make allegations just like PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli to influence voters,” he said, adding that Perikatan's stand is clear; the party will move on its own.

Asked to comment on Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid's statement that the PAS and Bersatu’s relationship is only a “contract marriage”, Muhyiddin said that even Umno was in the same relationship with other political parties before it was defeated in 2018.

“Bersatu and PAS are the founders of Perikatan, and our relationship is not based on a ‘marriage contract’.

“There is no such thing in our politics, and that person only said that because he realised our growing strength and support from the people,” he said.

Earlier, Anwar was reported as saying that Perikatan is the richest political coalition, receiving billions of ringgit worth of projects during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also claimed that Barisan and Perikatan have sent their representatives to start negotiations on forming the government after GE15. - Star
