PETALING JAYA: The number of flood victims continue to rise in Selangor, Perak, Melaka and Pahang, though the situation has improved in Johor, Kelantan, and Sarawak.
According to the welfare department’s disaster information website, there were 1,321 victims evacuated to relief centres in Selangor, compared to 800 this morning.
Some 20 relief centres are still open, with four each in Kuala Selangor and Sepang, as well as three each in Sabak Bernam, Klang, Petaling and Hulu Langat.
In Perak, some 642 people were seeking shelter at relief centres as of 8pm tonight, compared to 540 this morning. Ten relief centres have been opened in the state.
Pahang also saw a slight increase in the number of flood victims, with 272 residents evacuated to eight relief centres, compared to 236 this morning.
Similarly, a total of 48 people in Melaka have been evacuated, a small rise compared to 37 earlier.
The situation has improved in Johor and Kelantan, with the number of flood victims reduced to 289 and 1,053 respectively compared to 325 and 1,483 respectively earlier today.
There was also a slight improvement in Sarawak, with 10 people of the 133 holed up at a relief centre allowed to return home. - FMT
