Newly sworn-in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Parliament will convene on Dec 19, and the first move would be a vote of confidence for his leadership.
Speaking at his first-ever press conference after his appointment as the country's 10th prime minister, Anwar said this is to prove the support he commanded, following the questions raised by his rival, Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin over the legitimacy of his appointment.
According to Anwar, the unity government that he would lead comprises Pakatan Harapan, of which he is the chairperson, as well as BN, and Sarawak's GPS.
The premier also announced a public holiday next Monday (Nov 28), to the applause and cheers of the crowd at the Sungai Long Golf Club in Kajang, Selangor.
