Perak PN unveils goodies-laden manifesto, funds for weddings included

Perak Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairperson Ahmad Faizal Azumu launched the coalition’s manifesto for the state today, with less than 48 hours to go before polling day on Saturday.

The manifesto is based on five main pillars, he said, with a focus on education, social issues, women, infrastructure and environmental sustainability.

“Through these five main cores, we believe PN is able to form a society that is not only progressive but competitive and dynamic,” said Faizal (above), who is also known as Peja, during the launch of the manifesto in Ipoh, Perak today.

Among the offers in the manifesto include a range of goodies, including vouchers for students to buy laptops and tablets worth up to RM1,000 - as well as vouchers for book purchases.

Perak PN also wants to encourage people to get married and as such, they are proposing some form of marriage aid.

They also promised to increase the amount cashed into the Kasih Ibu Darul Ridzuan cards from RM290 to RM400 a month, in tandem with rising prices of goods and health spending.

Besides that, families that do not own a house would also be given the opportunity to apply for a site to enable them to build a house according to their family's capacity.

“God willing, about 50,000 families are expected to benefit from this initiative,” said Faizal.

In a press conference later, Faizal denied that the goodies-laden manifesto was an election candy to attract voters.

He said what was offered by the Perak PN was just an addition to improve the PN national manifesto that was announced on Nov 6.

“This is not the candy to win over Perak, but to further strengthen the efforts we will implement before forming the state government after Nov 19,” he said.

Faizal added that the above-mentioned offers were actually the feedback and inputs they received from the people during the campaign period. - Mkini
