Devanandan said Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah is scheduled to hear the appeal.

On May 26, Peter, who is the former Sabah infrastructure development minister, was sentenced to three years’ jail after he was found guilty of the offence.

Sessions court judge Azura Alwi also fined the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) president RM50,000, in default 15 months’ jail.

He paid the fine.

Azura also allowed Peter’s application for a stay of the jail term pending the outcome of his appeal in the High Court.

His RM50,000 bail was maintained.

Peter, 51, the then managing director of Syarikat Asli Jati, was found to have forged a letter from the office of the UMS deputy vice-chancellor dated June 9, 2014, by inserting a false statement with the intention of using the document for fraudulent purposes.

The offence was committed at the office of the principal private secretary to the prime minister at the Perdana Putra building in Putrajaya between June 13 and Aug 21, 2014. - FMT
