KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) will provide an explanation to its grassroots on the potential cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) to form the government, says PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi said it was crucial that PH prioritised the welfare of the people and resolved the issues plaguing the country.
“We need a stable (political) environment to resolve the problems (in the country). We see there are some supporters who are critical (of working with BN) but there are others who can accept it.
“Nonetheless, we will provide an explanation to the grassroots,” he told reporters at the Seri Pacific hotel here.
Earlier, PH and BN leaders met at the hotel in Kuala Lumpur. PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim later confirmed that discussions were ongoing between the two coalitions on forming the government together.
Anwar said he remained optimistic that PH and BN could form the government, adding that this would be a unity government, “not a PH or DAP administration”.
He also said ongoing court cases of several BN leaders were not a part of any agreement between the coalition and PH.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has given party leaders and heads of coalitions a one-day extension of the deadline to propose their prime ministerial candidate.
Istana Negara said they have until 2pm tomorrow to submit the names of their preferred candidate. - FMT
