JOHOR BAHRU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin has challenged Anwar Ibrahim to back his claim that PN is the richest coalition.
“What proof does he have?” he told reporters while on the campaign trail.
Muhyiddin also said he had no qualms of providing Anwar with PN’s financial accounts but wondered if the latter would do the same.
“Can he do that?”
The opposition leader had earlier claimed that PN became the richest coalition from projects worth billions of ringgit during the Covid-19 pandemic.
When questioned by reporters about Anwar’s claim that PN and Barisan Nasional (BN) were planning to work together, Muhyiddin said: “What proof does he have?
“We are already contesting against Umno in this election.
“Anwar and Rafizi Ramli love making allegations without any basis,” he said, referring to the PKR deputy president.
The former prime minister also said that PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan had clarified on the matter earlier today.
Takiyuddin said this afternoon that his remark on the possibility of BN and PN forming the next federal government was taken out of context.
His clarification comes in the wake of a rebuke from Muhyiddin that he did not give Takiyuddin the mandate to hold discussions with BN about forming the next government with PN. - FMT
