KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has announced an allocation of RM54 million, up from RM47 million last year, for Chinese and missionary schools, as well as other non-Muslim organisations for 2023.

Chief minister Hajiji Noor said the increase of RM7 million in the allocation was in line with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Barisan Nasional (GRS-BN) government’s commitment to ensure the needs of the various communities continue to be given priority.

“I hope the aid by the state government will help to ease the burden of the parties concerned in developing and repairing non-Muslim schools and houses of worship in Sabah for the benefit of non-Muslims in the state.

“The state government always emphasises justice and fairness in all aspects, including in helping the people, regardless of race and religion,” he said in a statement.

Hajiji said the support of the Chinese community in Sabah for the GRS-BN government in the general election (GE15) would ensure that its well-being would continue to be looked after.

Meanwhile, Hajiji said the GRS-BN government had achieved much over the past two years, especially in efforts to restore the state’s economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The investor-friendly approach implemented by the state government has brought many foreign and local investors to Sabah,” he added. - FMT
