SDs and shaping the future top BN supreme council meeting agenda

KUALA LUMPUR: The Barisan Nasional supreme council meeting on Tuesday (Nov 22) will discuss the direction of the coalition and the possibility of signing statutory declarations (SD) to pick the prime minister candidate, says its top leaders.

Umno vice president Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin said that there is a possibility that leaders will have to sign SDs.

"But the main agenda is the direction of the party," he said briefly at Menara Dato' Onn in the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur here.

Asked which candidate he would support in his SD, he replied jokingly: "Maybe me."

MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said he could not reveal the agenda.

Asked if he had any preference of prime minister candidate, he said: "Although there is a personal choice, we have to follow the party."

Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said he would not sign any SD if it involved cooperation with Pakatan Harapan.

He added that this was because no one, including himself, could make such a decision on their own as it would have to be collective.

"We need to get an agreement from all Barisan leaders if we want to make a new decision," he added.

Jalaluddin, Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Kuala Pilah MP Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan were among those who did not attend the meeting at Seri Pacific Hotel on Monday (Nov 21) for health reasons. - Star
