Thank you, Ismail tells Keluarga Malaysia after Anwar’s appointment

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has thanked Malaysians and the civil service, especially those in the frontlines, who served during his administration.

“I am appreciative of the support from Keluarga Malaysia for their contribution to my administration in ensuring that Malaysia remains on track to recovery, economically and politically,” he said in a brief statement.

Ismail went on to express hope that the incoming government would ensure political stability.

The newly-elected Bera MP also congratulated his successor Anwar Ibrahim over his appointment.

Ismail was sworn in as the country’s ninth prime minister in August last year, taking over from Muhyiddin Yassin who resigned – 17 months after being appointed to the post – after losing the support of the majority of MPs.

Ismail was also part of Muhyiddin’s administration, serving as a senior minister for security before being promoted to deputy prime minister in July 2021.
