The Ministry of Health (MOH) expressed its appreciation to the Australian government for channelling RM9 million in funding for the country's Covid-19 programmes.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said in a Facebook posting yesterday that the funding was channelled through the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) Malaysia, the World Health Organization (WHO) Malaysia and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society.
“The ministry welcomes cooperation, especially in the field of health research,” she said.
Earlier yesterday, Zaliha (above) received a courtesy call from Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Dr Justin Lee, at the Parliament building, during a recess of the sitting.
During the meeting, she said, they discussed issues and directions related to the health sector, as well as close cooperation between Australia and Malaysia in the field of health.
“This meeting is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation, which will be mutually beneficial,” she said.
