MARANG: Forty couples in Terengganu are to get a second honeymoon, courtesy of the state government’s commitment to helping couples overcome their marital problems.
State executive councillor Hanafiah Mat said the government has decided to continue the programme after it succeeded in solving the marital problems of over 60% of couples who had attended an earlier programme.
“Most of the married couples who were selected for the programme have been married for over five years. We want to help save their marriage and rekindle the lost spark in their marriage during the programme,” he told reporters.
Hanafiah said the honeymoon package, for three days and two nights, included a host of activities such as motivational talks to be held at an interesting location.
He said the programme organised by the Terengganu Family Development Foundation was also aimed at lowering the divorce rates.
The number of single mothers in Terengganu was reported to have increased by about 10,000 within three years. - FMT
